Editorial Policy

How we choose and evaluate casinos and slots, who writes and reviews the content, and how the editorial team is separated from commerce.

This policy describes the rules the GamblingShot editorial team works by. It exists so that readers understand what our reviews are based on and why they can be trusted.

What we check in a casino

Every review is built around a single set of criteria — this makes platforms comparable with each other:

  • Licence and regulator — who issued it, whether it is valid, what it gives the player;
  • Bonuses — the real terms of promotions: wagering, deadlines, stake limits, excluded games;
  • Payments — available methods, limits, withdrawal timeframes, verification requirements;
  • Responsible gambling — availability of limits, time-outs and self-exclusion;
  • Support and usability — contact channels, language, how the site works;
  • Game selection — games, providers, availability of a demo mode.

Who writes and who reviews

GamblingShot material is attributed. An author prepares the review text, and a reviewer separately checks the factual part — the licence, bonus terms, payment data. Bulk catalogue entries are maintained by the editorial team. You can see exactly who is responsible for what on the authors and editorial team page.

Independence from commerce

Editorial scoring and placement in our selections do not depend on affiliate payouts. A casino cannot buy a positive review, a rating or a position in a list. Commercial arrangements are not discussed with the authors of reviews. How the affiliate model works is set out in our advertising disclosure.

Data sources

We rely on primary sources: the official websites of operators and providers, the texts of bonus terms and rules, and regulators’ licence registers. If data conflicts, the official source takes priority.

Updating reviews

Casino terms change, so reviews are revised. The update date reflects a real change to the content of the page, not a cosmetic edit — we do not fake freshness for the sake of search rankings.

Correcting mistakes

We can make mistakes and we fix them. How to report an inaccuracy and how quickly we respond is described in our corrections policy.

Two ratings: editorial and user

Casino pages carry two independent scores: the GamblingShot editorial score and the user rating. Player reviews and complaints are user-generated content: they form the user rating and reflect the personal experience of their authors, but they do not determine the editorial score. We do take recurring signals from reviews into account when revising our reviews.
