Shamrock Quest slot review
Irish folklore hides a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow — the catch being that nobody has ever reached the end. In Shamrock Quest, Habanero swaps the rainbow for an enchanted map, with a lucky clover waiting at the finish. What defines the game is the spread of scale: the map hands out prizes of up to x100, while Pot of Gold pushes the bar to x10,000.
Your kit list before setting off: a 5x3 grid with 25 lines, very high volatility, five RTP options — 86%, 92%, 94%, 97% and 98% — and a top multiplier of x10,249. The key mechanic is the map: it pays cash prizes and, alongside Scatters, opens the road to free games.
What holds Shamrock Quest together?
The foundation holds no surprises: five reels, three rows, wins paid across 25 lines. The story hangs on the map. The description says you explore it, and exploring earns cash prizes worth up to x100 your bet. That's only one of its jobs, though — the map also serves as a second entrance to the free games.
How many stops the map has and how you move along it, the source doesn't spell out — what's on record is that it pays and that it triggers free games.
What's stashed away in Shamrock Quest?
There are three kinds of stash: the map's cash prizes, free games in two modes, and Pot of Gold. The biggest figure in the description, though, belongs to Pot of Gold rather than the free games.
💡 Two doors to the free games
Free games are triggered by Scatters or via the map. What you get is 7 Locked Wins Free Games or 7 Guaranteed Wild Free Games — 7 spins in either mode.
- Way in: Scatters or exploring the map.
- Mode 1: Locked Wins Free Games — 7 spins.
- Mode 2: Guaranteed Wild Free Games — 7 spins.
What decides which mode you land, and how many Scatters the trigger takes, the source doesn't say.
💡 Pot of Gold: x10,000 under lock and key
This feature has to be unlocked first, and then it pays up to x10,000 your bet — exactly 100 times the map's cash-prize cap. The unlock conditions aren't disclosed in the description.
Buy Feature also appears in the feature list, but there's no word on what it buys or what it costs.
x100 or x10,000: what scale does Shamrock Quest play at?
The numbers line up at three marks: up to x100 for the map's prizes, up to x10,000 for Pot of Gold, and x10,249 as the maximum multiplier for the game as a whole. The last two don't clash — one caps a single feature, the other caps the entire game — and the source doesn't explain what makes up the gap between them.
On the numbers, the "very high" label fits that spread: the map's prize cap and Pot of Gold's cap sit a hundredfold apart. As for x10,249, it marks the far end of the scale and tells you nothing about a typical session.
⚠️ Same clover, different percentage at every casino
The same Shamrock Quest can run at 98% or at 86%, with 92%, 94% and 97% in between. The casino picks the setting, and top to bottom is a drop of ≈12 percentage points. Check the figure in the game rules at your casino before you place a bet.
Finds along the route
- The map pulls double duty: it pays cash prizes of up to x100 your bet and triggers free games just like Scatters do.
- Two free game modes — Locked Wins Free Games and Guaranteed Wild Free Games, 7 spins each.
- Pot of Gold pays up to x10,000 your bet, and the game's overall maximum is x10,249.
- The RTP line-up includes 97% and 98% versions.
Rocks on the trail
- The bottom RTP setting is 86%, ≈12 percentage points short of the most generous 98% — and the venue makes the call.
- The map's cash prizes top out at x100 — exactly 100 times below the Pot of Gold cap.
- Volatility is very high, and x10,000 is tied to a feature you have to unlock first.
Who should pack for this trip?
| Player profile | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fans of map features with cash prizes | 🟢 Yes | The map pays prizes of up to x100 and opens the free games — the game's main mechanic revolves around it |
| Players who want variety in the bonus | 🟢 Likely yes | Free games come in two types — Locked Wins Free Games and Guaranteed Wild Free Games, 7 spins each; what decides the mode isn't stated |
| Anyone counting on a big score from the map | 🟠 Likely no | Map prizes top out at x100; the x10,000 mark belongs to Pot of Gold |
| Players chasing x10,000 and nothing else | 🟡 Caution | It's the cap of one feature that has to be unlocked first; volatility is very high, and the RTP could turn out to be 86% |
⚡ Is Shamrock Quest worth the trek?
Risks first: volatility is very high, x10,000 is locked inside Pot of Gold, and the casino is free to run the 86% RTP version. If you've factored all that in, the trail is open — a map paying up to x100, two ways into free games and two modes of 7 spins each. Nobody ever found the end of the rainbow, but this map has its edge marked: x10,249.
